Good fortune is here for the year of the Pig! Celebrate Lunar New Year by dancing with lions, making lanterns, and looking at the moon.

Pop Up Play Corner: Year of the Pig

9:30- 10:30 AM

Hamilton Hall, Main Level

Put on your imagination cap, act out the story of the three little pigs, and explore other animals in the zodiac.

 

Creative Art Studio: Paper Lanterns & Calligraphy

11:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Centennial Arts Studio, Lower Level
All ages with adult caregiver

Create works of art inspired by your trip to the museum. Cut, fold, decorate, and add your New Year’s wish to this age-old custom.

Join the Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers (KYL/D) as they introduce some of the many traditions surrounding the Lunar New Year. KYL/D will perform Chinese classical dance, folk dance and invite families to experience Chinese culture, movement and language.

 

Meet the Holidays Storytime: Lunar New Year

Get cozy and listen to stories, sing songs, and build literacy skills with stories celebrating the Lunar New Year.

 

Adventurous Afternoon: Phases of the Moon

3:30-4PM

Creative Arts Studio, Lower Level
Ages: 4+ with adult caregiver

Embark on a 30-minute adventure to ignite curiosity and explore phases of the Moon through observations, questions, and play.

 

End of the Day Parade

Meet us at the torch to explore rhythm and movement, then celebrate the end of our Family Festival with a parade!

Signature Events + Family Festivals

Our signature events include family festivals and holiday pop-ups. They offer expanded performance and educational offerings with a special focus that may celebrate cultural traditions and holidays, connect to national and local events, or highlight an area of focus in our exhibits.

Performing Arts

The Playhouse at Please Touch Museum invites children to exercise their imaginations and enter new worlds. Inside the theater, visitors experience theater in engaging, interactive and unexpected ways. The Playhouse is the perfect way to introduce young children to the performing arts!

Play Without Boundaries

Play Without Boundaries is a program and early opening for children with learning and developmental disabilities and those on the autism spectrum. It is a free event with registration. Enjoy the museum before it is open to the public with activities and experiences designed especially for this program, including sensory toys, performances and guest presenters. The Museum will be calmer and quieter with fewer people and reduced lighting and sound in exhibition areas.
