Superhero Sunday Family Festival: Sunday September 16, 2018
Superheroes come in all shapes and sizes! Meet costumed capers, celebrate community heroes, and discover your own powers on Superhero Sunday.
Drop-In & Draw: Chalk Zone 11 am – 4 pm Hamilton Hall, Main Level All ages with adult caregiver Grab some chalk, make your mark, and add your creative doodles to our collaborative chalk wall, while thinking about what it means to be a hero.
Program Room: Construction Paper Cape Design 11 am – 2 pm Group Rooms 5 and 6, Lower Level All ages with adult caregiver Drop in any time to experiment with materials and process as you create works of art inspired by your trip to the Museum and your favorite superhero.
Discovery Zone: Community Heroes 11:30 am-12:30 pm and 1:30-4pm Hamilton Hall, Main Level All ages with adult caregiver Put on your imagination cap and explore everyday superheroes through dress-up, props, and dramatic play!
Discovery Apron: Take a Closer Look 11am – 5pm Museum Wide (Please see Museum Experience facilitators with black aprons) All ages with adult caregiver Explore what’s in the apron! This month, take a closer look at natural materials.
Black Panther Meet & Greet 12 – 12:30, 1 – 1:30, and 2 – 2:30 pm Theater, Lower Level All ages with adult caregiver Stop by to say hello and snap a photo with Black Panther!
Meet & Greet: Fire Fighter Andy Brown 12:30-1:30 pm Hamilton Hall, Main Level All ages with adult caregiver Meet a community hero who keeps us safe every day. Learn about fire safety with local firefighter, Andy Brown.
Music and Movement: Superhero Stretch 4:15 – 4:45 pm Hamilton Hall, Main Level All ages with adult caregiver Meet us at the Torch to stretch, wiggle, and move your body as we end the day with an exploration of rhythm and movement.
Signature Events + Family Festivals
Our signature events include family festivals and holiday pop-ups. They offer expanded performance and educational offerings with a special focus that may celebrate cultural traditions and holidays, connect to national and local events, or highlight an area of focus in our exhibits.
Celebrate New Year’s Eve before naptime, featuring live music, a countdown performance and a traditional New Year’s Eve ball drop at 12 and 1pm.
Enter the castle to listen to captivating tales, meet princesses and knights and slay some dragons all while exploring history through play.
The Playhouse at Please Touch Museum invites children to exercise their imaginations and enter new worlds. Inside the theater, visitors experience theater in engaging, interactive and unexpected ways. The Playhouse is the perfect way to introduce young children to the performing arts!
Play Without Boundaries
Play Without Boundaries is a program and early opening for children with learning and developmental disabilities and those on the autism spectrum. It is a free event with registration. Enjoy the museum before it is open to the public with activities and experiences designed especially for this program, including sensory toys, performances and guest presenters. The Museum will be calmer and quieter with fewer people and reduced lighting and sound in exhibition areas.
