Family Festival: Lunar New Year
Howl at the moon! It’s the Year of the Dog and we are ready to celebrate. Practice ancient Chinese calligraphy, make a New Year’s wish, and dance with a lion at this joyful Family Festival!

Pop Up Play Corner: Year of the Dog
9:00 – 10:15 am

Put on your imagination cap, bark and wag your tail, and learn more about your canine friends and the zodiacs.
Live Performance: Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers

All Ages
Join the Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers (KYL/D) as they introduce some of the many traditions surrounding the Lunar New Year. KYL/D will perform Chinese classical dance, folk dance and invite families to experience Chinese culture, movement and language.

Get up close and personal to this ancient tradition! Meet The Philadelphia Sun’s Lion Dance Troupe as they introduce the beauty and style of The Lion Dance.
Meet the Holidays Storytime: Lunar New Year

Get cozy and listen to stories, sing songs, and build literacy skills with stories celebrating the Lunar New Year.
Drop-In and Draw: Chinese Calligraphy
2 – 3 PM
Centennial Depot, Lower Level
Preschool and up with a grownup
Drop in and explore Chinese Calligraphy. Then grab some paper to practice and create your own characters to take home.
Music and Movement: End of the Day Party

Valentine’s Day is over, but join us to fall in love with science through play, art, experiments, and stories.

Adventurous Afternoons: I Heart Science
Wednesday 10:00-10:30, 3:30-4:00 PM
Healthy Me, Healthy Family, Healthy Community, Lower Level
Preschool and Elementary aged children with an adult learning partner
Meet us to embark on a 30-minute STEAM adventure designed for students ages 4 – 8 years old.  Get your heart beating!   Explore the cardiovascular system through stories, movement, and observation.

Family Performance: Orchestra 2001 – Experiments In Sound

Explore how wind and string instruments produce their sounds! Orchestra 2001’s flutist David DiGiacobbe and cellist Ulrich Boeckheler demonstrate high and low sounds and how special effects can express different moods.

A collaboration between Please Touch Museum and University of Pennsylvania.
Meet scientists, ask questions, and be part of research projects all about play and early learning.
