Live Theater: The Building Show

Join the Playhouse Players and the Three Little Pigs in this zany production all about building things up and knocking them down.

Family Performance: Orchestra 2001 – Experiments In Sound

Explore how wind and string instruments produce their sounds! Orchestra 2001’s flutist David DiGiacobbe and cellist Ulrich Boeckheler demonstrate high and low sounds and how special effects can express different moods.

Family Festival – March 3rd: Holi
Celebrate the colors of springtime with the Indian festival – HOLI! Experiment with art materials, listen to Indian music and dance performances, learn about Holi in storytime, and participate in the Holi tradition of throwing your own colors!

Tot Spot: C is for Color

Fairytale Garden, Lower Level
Ages: 2-3 with adult caregiver
Join in activities, songs, and play especially designed to offer our youngest visitors time and space to socialize with others and strengthen early learning skills. Listen to a story about Holi, and focus on different colors.

 

Performance: Afreen
11 am -11:30 am and 1-1:30 pm

Meet the dancers of Afreen! Specializing in Bollywood contemporary dance, come explore how dance has changed through the eras. Don’t be surprised if you are invited to dance along!

Create works of art inspired by your trip to the museum. Use colored chalk and shapes to create beautiful patterns to take home with you. You can also add to our collaborative Rangoli on the big block!

 

Performance: Nava Nritya Dance Academy

Gather together and experience this vibrant group of dancers as they perform traditional Indian dance forms and celebrate color, springtime, and new beginnings! Siva Percussion Ensemble will join Nava Nritya Dance Academy at 12:20 pm for a special collaboration!

All ages with adult caregiver Get up close and personal with beautiful Indian music. Join Siva, Uma, and their friends for a guided tour of traditional Indian percussion and song. Siva Percussion Ensemble will join Nava Nritya Dance Academy at 12:20 pm for a special collaboration!

 

Storytime: All About Holi

Get cozy and listen to stories, sing songs, and build literacy skills with stories about the springtime festival of Holi.

 

Drop-In and Draw: Springtime Watercolor Scenes

Ages: 4+ with adult caregiver
Drop in and explore still life drawings. Holi celebrates springtime and harvest. Create your own springtime scene using watercolor pencils.

 

Music and Movement: End of the Day Party

Play Without Boundaries

Please join us for Play Without Boundaries, a program and early opening for children with learning and developmental disabilities and those on the autism spectrum.

Enjoy the museum before it is open to the public with activities and experiences designed especially for this program, including sensory toys, performances, and guest presenters. The Museum will be calmer and quieter with fewer people and reduced lighting and sound in exhibition areas.

During this event we offer:

• Quiet Space of the Day with Quiet Kit sensory toys
• Full access to Museum exhibit spaces
• Program Room activities

Floreo Virtual Reality Experiences

Floreo is a virtual reality based autism therapy product, and staff will be on hand to facilitate virtual reality experiences for visitors.

Floreo is currently partnering with the Center for Autism Research at CHOP.

Looking for a peaceful spot to relax and play? Stop by our quiet space to refocus and recharge. Explore toys, read stories, and make new furry friends while spending time with certified therapy animals teams from PAWS for People.

Paper Strip Sculptures

All Ages

Create works of art inspired by your trip to the museum. Bend, roll, and build a mini paper sculpture to take home. Don’t forget to add a few pieces to the collaborative sculpture!

 

Dance- Movement Therapy

9:15-9:45 am and 10:15-10:45 am

Group Rooms 5 and 6, Lower Level

Dance-movement therapy will be presented in an experiential format, for children and caregivers to participate in activities that may commonly be used in a dance/movement therapy session.  Props such as scarves, stretch cloths, and elastic bands, will be utilized to evoke movement and play.

Play Without Boundaries is a free event.
