Sid the Science Kid: The Super-Duper Exhibit!

Sid the Science Kid: The Super-Duper Exhibit! brings to life the award-winning PBS KIDS TV series Sid the Science Kid by transporting Museum guests into Sid’s world to become “science kids” themselves as they play, discover and investigate basic science questions around Sid’s home, at his school in the Super Fab Lab and on the playground.

With a focus on STEM-learning (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), exhibit visitors will be encouraged to discover and investigate their surroundings, just as scientists do, while engaging in age-appropriate and interactive lessons on basic science concepts, such as simple machines, the laws of motion, magnetism, air power and the five senses.

In Sid’s room, children will help put Sid’s toys away into the toy box using a catapult, then on the playground they will use a pulley to send stuffed animals up into a tree house and have fun with a wheel and axle in the sandbox.

The main goals of Sid the Science Kid: The Super-Duper Exhibit! are:

  • To build on young children’s natural curiosity about the world and to show them that science is all around us.
  • To contribute to school readiness by fostering children’s intellectual skills, motivation to learn and confidence in themselves as learners.
  • To support children’s learning by partnering with parents and teachers to create a “climate of curiosity” for children.

Adults visiting the exhibit will also gain exposure to activities and methods to enhance upon STEM-based learning opportunities for their children and students in the world at large.
