Parent and Teacher Resources: For Teachers and Caregivers

Please Touch Museum offers a variety of programs from trips to the museum to programs for the classroom. In addition we also offer curriculum support, and staff development programs for teachers and day care providers.

Portable Play Programs:

This series of PTM exhibit-based play kits are perfect for Pre-K through 2nd grade students. Portable Play Kits support classroom curricula and engage children through play. These kits include a taste of Please Touch Museum’s exhibit experiences. A museum facilitator will accompany each kit and facilitate the program in your classroom.

Goals & Objectives:

  • to provide opportunities for young children to engage in experiential learning through play
  • to introduce young children to interactive, museum-based educational experiences
  • to encourage open-ended, child-directed, and process-driven play
  • to provide educators with curriculum-enriching activities that meet the Pennsylvania Learning Standards for Early Childhood Education

Program Times & Duration:

  • Each classroom session runs approximately one hour

Professional Development for Early Childhood Educators:

Please Touch Museum’s Professional Development program strives to meet the standards set forth by the PA Office of Early Childhood, and will provide participants with the continuing education credits necessary to maintain proper licenses and education credentials.

  • All training will be taught by approved Pennsylvania Quality Assurance System (PQAS) trainers, and use approved early childhood curriculum based on PA’s Early Learning Standards
  • Sample workshops include: Learning Through Play, Understanding Challenging Toddler Behavior, Baby Basics and Creative Literacy
  • Workshop locations are flexible based on educators availability and needs


Program Times & Duration:

Workshops are offered at the convenience of each education center – weekdays, evenings or Saturdays

Program Fees & Contacts:

  • Rates begin at $150.00 per hour or $1200.00 for all day workshops

School Group Visits (15 people or more):

There’s no better way to introduce your students to our learning through play philosophy then with a visit to PTM! Bring your class to Please Touch Museum for a memorable experience and incorporate our play themes into your classroom activities. To properly accommodate groups, reservations are always required, and are recommended to be placed at least one month in advance.

At Please Touch Museum at Memorial Hall in Fairmount Park, we want our school groups to feel extra special! Featured accommodations include:

  • A dedicated school group entrance off of Landsdowne Avenue (the rear of Memorial Hall) complete with a school group greeter and special check-in counter
  • School bus parking
  • Dedicated school group lunch rooms
  • Program Duration, Fees & Contacts:
    • Group visits are scheduled between 9:30 am and 3:00 pm Tuesday through Friday
    • Groups are scheduled for either 90 minute visits or untimed visits
    • 90 minute visits for groups of 15 or more = $10 per person
    • Untimed group visit for 15 or more = $15 per person
  • Lunchrooms may be reserved for groups bringing brown bagged lunch for $1 per person
  • Boxed lunches may be ordered from our on-site caterer for an additional fee
  • Carousel tickets may be purchased for an additional $2 per student
