Memorial Hall Project and Renovation Updates
We are less than a year away from our grand opening at Memorial Hall in Fairmount Park! Construction work is in full force at Please Touch Museum’s future home—from excavating grounds to topping off the carousel house, our crew is making big strides in returning this Philadelphia landmark back to its original glory just in time for us to move in and open our doors to generations of children to come!
On the upper level of the Hall, the scaffolding has come down, and windows have been installed in most parts of the building. Final painting is being performed on the upper part of the Great Hall, and plaster restoration in the South Foyer is almost complete. Outside, the stroller ramp has been installed, while granite repairs on the outside of the building are still in the process.
The outside areas, including the parking lot, are now stabilized for the winter. By late February, all scaffolding will be removed in the Great Hall, and work will begin on the Arm & Torch, which will welcome families to our new museum when we open in the fall of 2008.
