Birthdays are exciting whether you are turning six or sixty! Please Touch Museum seeks to connect young children with artists or authors through birthday celebrations.
Celebrating birthdays draws a great connection between the children and historical figures. We tie in the birthday celebration with educational programming that will familiarize each child with that artist or author, and as a result, promoting a strong foundation for future learning in art and literacy.
For example, to celebrate Frida Kahlo’s Birthday, children are encouraged to draw self-portraits and self-face paint, which introduces them to the media and genre of painting used by Kahlo, while also fostering each child’s self-image and self esteem. And of course, it’s loads of fun!
