This 90-minute guided tour will explore the history and transformation of Memorial Hall, the first home of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the 1876 World's Fair. Memorial Hall is the only major structure remaining from Philadelphia's 1876 Centennial Exhibition. The tour includes a ride on the fully restored 1908 Woodside Park Dentzel Carousel, the Centennial Exploration gallery, and an 1889 scale model that depicts the Centennial's landscape.


 


Guided tours leave from the admissions desk every Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. No reservation required, adults only. Self-guided tours are also available at any time during regular museum hours. See admissions for more information.

The Museum is delighted to welcome 3 Philadelphia-based artists to share their artwork and experience during the month of February. Artists will be exploring and creating artwork around the theme COLOR. 


On February 11 & 12, Vinnie Cheng and Aaron Fleury will be joining us at the Museum. They are an Architecture and Design team who are dedicated to community-based art and education. Their work with PTM will explore the interactions of light and color in sculpture. Visitors will be able to contribute to the artist' installion or make their own sculpture to take home.

She has worked with the Mural Arts organization in Philadelphia as well as held other teaching artist positions. Cheryl will share alternative art making materials and methods with our visitorys as she invites them into her process.

On February 25 & 26 Daniel Schossev-Roden will be joining us at the Museum. Daniel holds a degree in Neuroesthetics and will explore the theme of color with an artistic and scientific approach. Through sculpture, literature and art making, visitors will be able to investigate how their senses, their feelings and their brain make up their experience of color.

  Centennial Grown-Up Tour

This 90-minute guided tour will explore the history and transformation of Memorial Hall, the first home of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the 1876 World's Fair. Memorial Hall is the only major structure remaining from Philadelphia's 1876 Centennial Exhibition. The tour includes a ride on the fully restored 1908 Woodside Park Dentzel Carousel, the Centennial Exploration gallery, and an 1889 scale model that depicts the Centennial's landscape.


 


Guided tours leave from the admissions desk every Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. No reservation required, adults only. Self-guided tours are also available at any time during regular museum hours. See admissions for more information.

Introduce your family to learning through play with art, creative dramatics, building and sensory experiences in the Elain-Wideman Vaughn Program Room.


As part of Program Room Fun, the Creative Dramatics Playcorner will feature props, puppets, toys and customes for open-ended dramatic play on an ongoing and rotating basis. Check "Today's Fun" signs for monthly themes.

At Poet's Corner, children hear poems that rhapsodize and rhyme about the world around them, from enormous pizzas to the hazards of sidewalks. The schedule for Poet's Corner is posted on "Today's Fun" signs at the admissions desk.

  Please Touch Playhouse Presents: BUILDING SHOW

Big Blue and his furry gang star in this madcap puppet fest.  Whether building words, houses or sandwiches these hairy harbingers of comic carpentry are never mortar-fied enough to do anything but raise the roof. 


Performances are Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.; Sundays at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. unless otherwise noted.
