Martin Luther King Weekend

Help us Celebrate Martin Luther King’s Birthday with a weekend of community centered activities

Activities from 10:00-4:00 Saturday and Monday; 12:00-4:00 Sunday in our Program Room include:

• Caring Cards and Community Quilts: Families can make well-wishing cards using stamps, markers and crayons that will be sent to a local children’s hospital and resident center. Visitors can also decorate and add a square to collaborative quilts that will be displayed at the participating locations for patients, residents, visitors, and staff to enjoy.

On Saturday and Monday at 10:00; Sunday at 1:00, join us in a celebration of MLK’s I Have a Dream Speech:

• Join in an interactive story time inspired by Dr. King’s legacy featuring books and poems celebrating community service, aspirations, and dreams. Participants can decorate a paper vest that reflects their dreams for the future for themselves and for others.

Special Guest Performer: Hip Hop Fundamentals Performances In Hamilton Hall 12:00 and 2:00 16th, 17th and 18th:

• “With a bit of audience participation and a whole lot of dancing, Hip Hop Fundamentals works to educate, inspire, and entertain children of all ages about the deep, rich, and diverse history of Hip Hop. The members of Hip Hop Fundamentals firmly believe that studying the roots of hip hop, particularly hip hop dances such as breaking (break dancing) can be the key to inspiring positive change in youth.”
