Family Festival June 16th: Eid al- Fitr

Eid Mubarak!  Express thankfulness and joy through play.  Celebrate the end of Ramadan and the new moon with stories, art, and science.

Early Bookworms: Celebrations – Eid Mubarak! 9:30 – 10 am City Park, Main Level Ages: 1- 2.5 years old with adult caregiver

Spark curiosity and exploration of literacy for your early bookworm.  Join our story circle and journey through books and celebrate Eid al-Fitr with songs, movement, and self-expression.

Program Room: Mosaics 11 am – 2 pm Temporary Program Room, Lower Level All ages with adult caregiver

Drop in any time to experiment with materials and process, as you create works of art inspired by your trip to the Museum. Explore patterns and color as you build your own mosaic!

Artist Meet & Greet and Workshop: Ameerah Khabir 11 am – 3 pm Group Rooms 5 and 6, Lower Level Ages: 3+ with adult caregiver

Meet local artist Ameerah Khabir, grab some brushes, and help complete a new work of art: “The Prayer Painting.” This collaborative artwork highlights the steps of prayer in Islam.

Chef Demo 12-12:30 pm and 2-2:30 pm Carousel House, Main Level Ages: 4+ with adult caregiver

Meet Chefs J.C. and Krzysztof as they demonstrate how to make tasty stuffed dates – a traditional way to break the Ramadan fast! Taste sweet date bars, stuff your own dates, and then take home a recipe card to make everything at home! *Allergy alert: this demonstration may use nuts*

Performance: Freedom Dabka Group 12:30- 1pm and 1:30- 2pm Hamilton Hall, Main Level All ages with adult caregiver Stomp your feet along with Freedom Dabka Group as they perform and teach this popular Arabic dance style.

Author Meet & Greet: Bashirah and the Amazing Bean Pie by Ameenah Muhammad-Diggins 1-1:30pm City Park, Main Level All Ages with adult caregiver

Join author Ameenah Muhammad-Diggins as she reads her brand-new book, Bashirah and the Amazing Bean Pie. Meet with Ameenah after storytime for an opportunity to have her sign your book! Books will be available to purchase.

Meet the Holidays Storytime: Eid al- Fitr 1:30 – 2 pm Wordsworth Cottage, Main Level Ages: 3+ with adult caregiver

Get cozy and listen to stories, sing songs, and build literacy skills with to celebrate the end of Ramadan and the new moon.

Drop-In & Draw: Henna 2 – 3 pm Outside Centennial Explorations, Lower Level Ages: 4+ with adult caregiver

Drop-in, look closely, grab a piece of paper, and draw a beautiful henna design.

Author Meet & Greet: Hijab-ista by Jamila Mapp 3-3:30pm City Park, Main Level All ages with adult caregiver

Come listen to a very special storytime led by author Jamila Mapp. Meet with Jamila after storytime for an opportunity to have her sign your book! Books will be available to purchase.

Adventurous Afternoons: New Moon and Lunar Cycle 3:30 – 4 pm Between Hello from Japan! and Flight Fantasy, Main Level Ages: 4+ with adult caregiver

Embark on a 30-minute adventure to ignite curiosity for the phases of the Moon through observations, questions, and play.

Music and Movement: Lunar Lullabies 4:15 – 4:45 pm Hamilton Hall, Main Level All ages with adult caregiver

Meet us at the Torch for a music and movement celebration as we explore the moon and lullabies.
